See You Today

Words and music by Joshua Scheid (2018)

Released July 15th, 2020

See You Today presents six conversations removed from their surrounding contexts. Originally conceived for one performer, Strange Trace has reimagined this performance to use each of our artistic members. In each scene, the performer has an exchange that begins with the same words—“I didn’t think that I’d see you today.” For a conversation partner, there is only projected text: in our production these are the subtitles, which converse with the performer back and forth. From the mundane to the erotic, See You Today finds meaning in the process of conversing, rather than in the narrative context that surrounds it.

See You Today uses words that are spoken by the performers and words that are shown in subtitles to tell its story. The on-video subtitles do not show what the performers are saying. Would like a copy of the script to read along? Click the link above for a PDF copy of the script to follow along!
